Yida Creation City: A Futuristic Exhibition Center

Ling Chen's Award-Winning Architecture Fuses Function and Aesthetics

The Yida Creation City, located in the northwest corner of the Yida Science and Technology New Town base, stands as the first project and urban exhibition hall of the base. The design concept, "floating polysilicon," is encapsulated in a concise and powerful polyhedron form, creating a dialogue between the exhibition function and the north and south landscape parks. The floating building volume, with its white jade image, reflects the future value of the area.

The architectural form is wrapped by a milky white U-shaped glass curtain wall, conveying a hazy and mysterious sense of science and technology and future. This design choice interprets the impression and temperament of the information technology industry, establishing the image of the park. The building covers a total construction area of 141602m2, with a landscape area of 13500 m2 and a water area of 1395 m2.

The design team, comprising Nelson Tam, Sun Zhe, and Li Wuzhou, alongside Ling Chen, ensured that the design was not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional. The formal language rising at the corner of the building shapes a flexible and powerful facade image. The interior of the rising part corresponds to the functional space of the roadshow hall and the lecture hall, creating a unified facade shape with the internal space.

The project, which started in 2018 in Zhengzhou, Henan, and finished in 2019, was put into use in 2020. It faced several challenges, including creating a large area of floor glass curtain wall that better connects the indoor and outdoor landscape vision. The second floor serves as the conference roadshow space, meeting the needs of enterprise product release and large scale conference in the park. The third floor is the joint office space, set in combination with the third space to interpret the office mode of Yida new era.

The Yida Creation City was awarded Silver in A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
